We’ve seen some pretty incredible wedding favours in our day, from miniature succulents and beautifully-boxed pastries, to custom wine bottles, fresh fruit cartons and jars of homemade jam. But when you’re throwing a destination wedding, you may find that the options for these thoughtful giveaways may not be so endless after all.
With luggage restrictions, portability and practicality to keep in mind, destination wedding favours can sometimes pose a few challenges – for both the wedding couple who’s transporting them, and for their guests who are taking them home. But this doesn’t mean you have to feel boxed in when coming up with creative favour ideas. With a bit of planning, you can still gift your guests with easy-to-pack wedding favours that they’ll absolutely adore.
Keep calm, travel on. You’re having a destination wedding so what would make more sense than gifting travel-related favours? Personalized luggage tags and passport holders embossed with your wedding date will come in handy for future travels. Or how about a custom tote bag that your guests can use when shopping for souvenirs? Other fun favours that can be used on the spot include sunglasses and sunblock sticks, both of which can be personalized for an extra special touch. Whether your guests pack up your wedding favours to go or use them in real time, in destination, one thing’s for sure – they’ll use these globe-trotting gifts for years to come.
Tech support. Mostly everyone has a computer or a smartphone these days, which gives you even more fun options for destination wedding favours. Consider giving a flash drive that’s been pre-loaded with a heartfelt video message from you and your partner, expressing your gratitude for each guest’s support and sharing a specific memory you have of them. Bonus? They get to keep and use the flash drive themselves. For the selfie lover or influencer, a rechargeable selfie ring light that attaches to their phone would be a perfect wedding favour. Also practical are pop sockets; make them extra fun by personalizing them with a catchphrase, an image or a silly photo of you and your partner.
Home sweet home. Welcome your destination wedding guests back home with thoughtful gifts that encourage cozy nights in. Customized sleeping masks, photo coasters and tea towels are all great ideas, as are fridge magnets that double as can openers and measuring spoons attached to your favourite cookie recipe. As for edible treats that are easy to store and pack, try little bags of coffee beans or packets of tea leaves, hot chocolate or popcorn that are perfect for movie nights on the couch.
